A doctor performed a surgical procedure on a 49 year-old man applying an artificial skin graft on his lower leg. Within hours after the surgery, the patient had a heart attack and died. We proved that the stress of the surgical procedure resulted in the heart attack, and that the patient was not a candidate for surgery in the first place because he had congestive heart failure and shortness of breath at the time of the surgery. We took the case to a jury trial and won a verdict of $12.7 million for the surviving family members.
